The future of Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling remains uncertain.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires in the summer of 2023. Sterling and City are in talks over a new deal.
According to soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola is in favor of Sterling staying with the team and signing a new contract. However, the coach himself does not intend to influence the process of negotiations in any way.
If the parties fail to agree on the terms, Sterling will be allowed to negotiate a contract with any club at the beginning of 2023 and leave the “City” for free in the summer of 2023.
According to The Times, if there is no progress in the negotiations, the executives of the club from Manchester will try to sell forward and will seek an amount much higher than the 50 million pounds that Man City paid to Liverpool for Sterling’s transfer in 2015.
Sterling has scored 10 goals in 22 English Premier League games this season.
