CSKA loans Everton’s Ivorian holding midfielder

Updated: 09 March 2022

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamen has moved to CSKA, according to the official website of the Army team.

The Ivorian will play for the Red and Blue on loan until the end of this season. According to the player’s agent, CSKA did not pay Everton anything for his loan. At the same time, the Army team will not be able to buy the player out in the summer for a fixed amount.

Gbamen has been playing for the Toffees since the summer of 2019, when he was acquired from German side Mainz for £25 million. However, in two and a half seasons, the Ivorian took part in only six matches in the English premier league due to various injuries and surgeries.

The 26-year-old midfielder spent on the pitch only half an hour in the FA Cup game with Hull this year.

This is not the first time CSKA and Everton have made a transfer deal. In 2018, the Army Men loaned and subsequently bought out Toffees midfielder Nikola Vlasic, who became the leader of the Moscow club’s attacks for several seasons.
